Boxed set edition of the Millennium Trilogy, the first volume of which, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has been adapted as a major Hollywood film starring Daniel Craig to be released on the 26th December.
Between Steig Larssen's description of Sweden, the complexity of the stories and the uncompromising ass-kicking coolness of Lisbeth Salander, mixed with my second fave trilogy by Nicola Griffith and her ass-kicking Norwegian-American Aud Torvingen, I think I may just have to go to Sweden.
Never have I been so enthralled in books - I love reading but with these I found myself reading until only a few hours before I had to get up for work. I am also confident that on second reading, the picture will be so much clearer, there are probably enough layers and twists for even a third or fourth reading.

move over Martin Beck, Kurt Wallander... now a new genre of writing is here ... three cheers for Stieg Larsson. Why did you have to die so young!
Why are the English translatons coming out so late?

I'm about half way through "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" unabridged audiobook, and totally involved with the plot structure, characters, dialog, etc. Can't wait until "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and 3rd unabridged audiobooks are released. I wonder if anyone knows when the Swedish film on the Trilogy will be available is the US? Thanks,

Just finished the third book, planning a trip to Sweden for the movie...completely in love with Lisbeth and increasing protection on my local wireless network in these days...but i would let her in...
Stieg shows a level of respect and understanding of women I can only share and admire, also if it should be normal in anyone (and unfortunately it is not).
All important female characters are somehow great and the good male ones are the ones who respect and really love them.
Stories are fluent and able to capture you from first to last page...Actually I want to turn into a journalist, or a hacker, or a female swedish police officer...still need to decide... Love you Sally... :-)

Larsson finished the third book for his own. It is not written by any other. Only the fourth remains unfinished and is part of a legacy conflict between Stiegs father, brother and companion in life.

@ P.Roan: Yes, Larsson was smoking much too much and drinking coffee all day - while working too much.
@ last comment: This would be an absolutely new fact. Not known, that he did not finish the third book. There isn't any reference in alle Swedish newspaper articles or any other source to it. Even his partner didn't tell.

Read the books last year in swedish. Larsson died before he finished the third book, so the ending is not written by him, but it's a great book anyway. Lisbeth Salander is my hero!
