Boxed set edition of the Millennium Trilogy, the first volume of which, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has been adapted as a major Hollywood film starring Daniel Craig to be released on the 26th December.
SL an exceptional writer! This has probably been asked before but given how closely life appears to imitate art in his trilogy, does anyone know if there were any remotely suspicious circumstances surrounding Stieg's death? Sorry to sound like a conspiracist, did he have a heart condition? His is a sad loss but I can imagine the Swedish establishment breathing a sigh of relief at his passing. Perhaps an email campaign should be organised to pressure his family to compensating his widow? I imagine Mr Larsson would have been disgusted at this injustice, just the sort of thing he fought against.

I am completely addicted to the books! He is such a great writer and it is a shame he is dead. However, talking to some Swedish friends, his life story could also become a book. Let's all hope some other Swedish journalist will investigate Stieg's life. Am about to finish Millennium 2 and can't wait to read the third one.

I've literally just this minute come across reviews of Stieg Larsson whilst browsing through Amazon. Being a reading addict, I'm suprised that I haven't come across him before. Judging by the reviews, I've got a major read ahead of me. As anybody who loves reading knows, there's nothing like coming across a writer that you've never read before and who is considered brilliant by everybody who has read them. I can't wait to start the first book of the trilogy.

It's not that common but if anyone calls you "Kalle Blomqvist" in Sweden they mean that you're a bit tiresome in the way that you are just a little too good/splendid/well-behaved in an irritating way. It refers to the Astrid Lindgren character (a boy-detective that I believe Larsson based Mikael on - I've read somewhere that it all began when Larsson was pondering what would happen if the Astrid Lindgren characters Kalle and Pippi Longstocking (Salander) where living in todays society))...

Have just finished 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'. Such skillful writing with such class. Could'nt put it down. Finely drawn characters with whom one could identify and understand. Salander hopefully is in each book - what a loss Larsson is to the literary world. But, not speaking any Swedish, why is "Kalle" such an insult? I should very much like to know.

These Millennium books are well worth losing sleep over!! Impossible to put down, cleverly written, love them. I am now waiting for the third part and allready sorry that there will be no more of them. So sad that Larsson died before he finished part four. Maybe the family could be persuaded to publish it anyway..

I just finished reading the final book in the series (in Swedish) and have to say that I was spellbound by them! And I agree with previous comments--it's a shame that there won't be any more works written by this amazing author!

I finished the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo last night. It is a superb book. Beautifully written, full of unexpected twists and surprises with a plot which holds your attention to the very last page. I am big fan of Swedish crime writing and Stieg Larsson has taken the genre to another level. I look forward to the release of the other books in the series.
