I have just finished the third book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest.
Absolutely fantastic reading. Got to go a long way to find books as thrilling and gripping as this trilogy.

A read all three of the books, I am in a ladies book club and it was chosen to read by all 8 of us. They really kept you on the edge of your seat. I am sorry that the author did not experience the success of his novels before he died.

As I was reading the first book, I realized I hadn't ready anything as complex and captivating since I had read "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexander Dumas when I was 14 (some 13 years ago). Larsson knew how to weave tale in ways very few know how, and in ways we rarely see in modern literature or other mediums as well. It's amazing to me that he had at least 7 more books up his sleeve, but I guess that's what we call genius.
Being a writer myself, lowly and unpublished, I can scarcely hope to write something half as hardboil, gritty, real and deep and captivating as his only 3 works.

By far the best read, I am a Baldacci and Patterson fan, and would give them up to have Larrson books too bad he didn't live to see how successful he was to become.

wonderfull books ,the brilliant mind of stieg larsson, and now we go and suffer the americans making a film, with their ridiculous high fives and yowling accents and completely lost in space attituded towards anything classical, why o why are they going to let these heathens with their(I will tell you how good I am) actors ruin a perfectly correctly constructed piece of writing by a brilliant author,it shoud remain within sweden,in my opinion it can only work with swedish influence
- ac.presland, 29 January 2011
Well said! I agree entirely. Americans should stick to their Super Bowls.

I'm American, and not sure what to think currently about the films. David Fincher is a good filmmaker, though I've been shying away from "Social Network", seems like a sellout if you ask me. I've been watching the three Swedish adaptations, and am yet to watch the third one. They're good, but some things were left out that I wish weren't, so who knows.
And by the way, Hans, your reply is the best comeback about this nonsense I've read to date. :) Score.

Americans has made some very amazing novels and movies. I will admit that there are many horribly made things here, but I'm sure that Sweden or wherever you are from has flaws as well.
This is by far one of the best novels/movies I have seen in a while. It is a shame that the author never got to witness its success.

I just watch the Sweden version of the first book and thought it was good but it also took things out of order. No matter what book it is, everyone is going to have their own image of the main characters. It's hard to combine such an awesome but complex story into 2 hours and 3 movies. Brilliant writting and story telling. RIP Stieg.

Dear ac.presland, sorry you don't like American accents. But no worries, the leading man in the Hollywood remake is English.
