Boxed set edition of the Millennium Trilogy, the first volume of which, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has been adapted as a major Hollywood film starring Daniel Craig to be released on the 26th December.
I just spent the weekend finishing "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." At no point did it falter; suspenseful, amazing reading from beginning to end. I will be ordering the 2nd and 3rd books and can't wait to read them as well. How sad that the author died in the prime of his life; he will be missed.

Read the first book in three days during my vacation -wow, cant wait to get back home, where I have already got no 2 and 3. Stieg is Mikael - no doubt about that.

I have been introduced to the first book by buying the CD set (6 discs) from a charity shop on the start of a long journey. I couldn't get out of the car ... Seriously, though, the audio version is very good, and for those who've read the book (unlike me - yet) a chance to re-experience the story.

A note that might be of interest to non Swedish readers. Larsson based the two main characters on two quite well-known Astrid Lindgren characters (world renowned childrens' books author):
Lisbeth = Pippi Longstockings and
Mikael = Kalle Blomkvist "Super Sleuth" (lesser known internationally).
If you know Astrid's characters they make more sense in the books as well and provide for some fun reflections for the reader - or so I thought at least.

Savour them.

Could his sudden death be false?
Stieg Larsson worked as a journalist, digging into e.g. neo-nazism. His research provided him with enemies and he received several death threats, apparently one reason why he and his wife never got married. Before his death, he just manages to complete the Millenium-series spanning over three books...
By arranging a sudden death, he could disappear and hopefully bring an end to the threats and in addition, based on other examples from history, sudden death has an effect of bringing attention to new and unknown authorships / musicians etc.
Based on the plot in the Millenium series, Stieg shows bureaucratic knowledge that could be used to arrange ones death...? If not R.I.P.
I guess this conspiracy theory is weak and works only as a small hope I have, that maybe one day, more books in this indescribable great Millenium series would be published. I fear the day when I have completed all three books....
