Just finished reading The Girl Who Played With Fire, was a very good story, and looking forward to reading The Girl Who Kicked the Horner's Nest

an extra special thanks to the brilliance of both larsson and the translators to english. the characters and plots come across with simple clatrity while the turmoil within the characters themselves roils just beneath the surface ready to explode in either sexuality or moral indignation. steig manages to bring all the brooding mind-fuck of the bergmann era to reflect in the wonderfully simple cases he unfolds with the most complicated human resources. i hope the filmmakers do not end up giving us a "holmesian" re-hash of the pot-boiler detective series or invent any "watsons" as sidekicks. good luck to them though i don't envy them the job any more than that of the translators who by the way get far too few plaudits for their efforts and should be recognized by publishers with an award or their own from the industry.

Does -gatan mean anything in Swedish? Some of the locations written in the novels are Gotgatan, Lundagatan, St. Paulsgatan...

What about Ewan McGregor as Blomkvist in the Hollywood remake? If you haven't seen The Ghost Writer check it out.
McGregor = Blomkvist

David Craig is playing Blomkvist in the US remake.

The untimely death of Stieg Larsson is another Tragedy of Literature, much like the death of Margaret Mitchell. The reader is left to wonder what Might have been.
The novel that Mitchell was on her way to her publishers to discuss when she was hit by a car has never been published. It was her wish that nothing that had not been finished by her be made public.
I certainly hope that his Partner finishes the fourth book and, even though we won't get all 10 in the series, we won't be deprived of as many as possible.
RIP Stieg Larsson, but I hope Lisbeth lives on for awhile. One more time.

The best books I have read this year, fantastics, something new ,well written,Salander is an abused girl but too much smart to break her [ love you Noomi ]. If Holywood is allow to remake the film they will destroy the principles of Larsson and the spirit of Lisbeth.

I have just finished reading the second book and hooked for the third after the abrupt ending.....god knows what is going to happen next!
I reckon that Blomkvist may have been Stieg's alter ego and I don't blame him as I think that Blomkvist and Salander are great characters.
Thank you for sharing your stories!

I just love his books; wish he'd lived longer to write all ten.
