Before his career as a writer, Stieg Larsson was mostly known for his struggle against racism and right-wing extremism. Starting in the late 1970's, he combined his work as a graphic designer with holding lectures on right-wing extremism for Scotland Yard. During the following years he became an expert on the subject and held many lectures as well as writing many novels on the subject. In 1995, when 8 people were killed by neo-Nazis in Sweden, he was the main force behind the founding of the Expo-foundation, a group intended on exposing neo-Nazi activity in Sweden. From 1999 onwards he was appointed chief editor of the magazine Expo.

During the last 15 years of his life, he and his life companion Eva Gabrielsson lived under constant threat from right-wing violence.

This is one of those books I have not yet read. It's on the TBR pile but it is a far ways down the list. Thanks for the great information though. As to the comment above about the Holy Ghost Writer book: That Girl Started Her Own Country, I actually did read that one. It was an impulse buy but all the same, I thought it was a pretty good read. IT definitely fits in with the Thriller crime theme you have going here. You can find it on Amazon or if you want to read more about it before you buy you can read reviews and such on both amazon and goodreads. All in all it was worth my time and money to read.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a fantastic thriller. As a matter of interest, if you like crime thrillers that are similar to this book and have the same themes, such as female empowerment and rebellion against the establishment, have a look at this book: "That Girl Started Her Own Country", written by the "Holy Ghost Writer". It is an intelligently-written, thoroughly entertaining page-turner, full of international intrigue and engaging, interesting characters. It has fast action and many plots and twists that keep you guessing. I literally could not put it down. It is available on Amazon, Goodreads and Barnes and Noble. But don't take my word for it - check out all the glowing 5 star reviews, if you still need convincing. I urge you to check it out. You won’t be disappointed!

I live in the United States. I have read all three books and have seen both versions of the movie (s). I am in love with the trilogy. The American version sucks. Nobody can take the place of the original characters. Sometimes you just have to leave things as is. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. RIP Mr. Larson.

I don't know about anyone else and I'm late to this fantastic trilogy , but in my opinion Lisbeth is the best investigator since a certain S Holmes. Know one can tell me there aren't many personality traits of both , and if Holmes would have had a computer he wouldn't have been right there .I find it hard to believe that Mr. Larsson's Father & brother have a problem with Ms. Gabrielsson writing a 4th novel , money for both , seems they have the same attitude Ms. Berger did 2nd novel with males on news staff ? Just my 2 cts.I have read all the others and nobody since Mr. Doyle has done it better RIP Stieg

- margspice1@hotmail.com, 10 augusti 2012

Contact the publisher and they should replace it. I had the same thing happen with a different book years ago. Stieg Larsson's books are too good not to read every word! Good luck.
