The trilogy

Millennium trilogy

Stieg Larsson had always been interested in detective novels, and he was very familiar the works of Elizabeth George and Minette Walters. He knew what ingredients a good detective story should have, and he even reluctantly decided to spice it up with a bit of sex as it would probably please his readers.

Stieg Larsson was so way out and ahead of his time, he wanted to leave all of his money to a leftist organization, but the courts wouldn't let that happen, or that his common law wife who supported him for 30 years inherited him- it goes to the father and brother!. So injustice still goes on. Tilted towards men. Stieg's books are great, but without Lisbeth Salander, they would be just ordinary, and of course she is the center, and the pulse. Violence against women is so horrible, and she had to go through the ringer and back to get justice. All of these boring men with intrigues in the secret police and government are everywhere. Thankyou Stieg for Lisbeth Salander, a young woman with limited social skills but that is smarter than all of them and lands on her feet.

My family gave me a bookstore gift certificate for my birthday and I bought 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' just by random chance. It was amazing. I then bought " the Girl Who Played with Fire" and am close to finishing but I almost don't want to because then I will not have anything to look forward to. It is odd because I have known girls like Lisbeth, physically and mentally, Russian and Czech girls with huge potential and limited social skills. Not beautiful but entrancing. Funny looking gorgeous. I am about ready to move to Sweden to start the research and try to finish the series. It is such a shame that such a talented writer, and a good human being, should be taken in his prime.

The first of the trilogy was the best book I have read this year & I read it in 5 days over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. I did not like the second book as much however it had the biggest twist which I did not see coming at all. I am looking fwd to the third & final? book 'Hornet's nest' & I have a fair idea on why it would be called that!

PP. November 30. 2009.

I'm in the middle of the second book, The Girl Who Played With Fire. I don't want it to finish because the third book won't be in the States for another 6 months. I love these novels. Best I've read in so long. I'm so sad that Larsson has died. He was a wonderful novelist.

in Brazil, the first book, calls something like "the man who don't love women".. sorry for my english!

But I have to say... that trilogy is one of me predilects..

- Mylenna Souza Lirio, 27 November 2009

That is the original Swedish title! (Män som hatar kvinnor = Men Who Hate Women). It is also the Danish, and I believe, Norwegian and Spanish titles. The Tattoo-title was just made to spice up sales ... but I've kind of gotten used to it :-)

- Chris @ sallysfriends.net, 29 November 2009

...and called in Dutch: "Mannen die vrouwen haten" Fantastic book!
