At the moment, my daughter of 20 and myself 61, only have seen
a series on Dutch TV of 'The girl with the dragon tattoo' we intend
to read all the Millennium Books in the near future.

The only thing that spoilt the trilogy for me was the fact that the Establishment finally got round to punishing the guilty. Simply cannot believe that this would happen, but perhaps that comes of living in whitewash Britain all of my life. Perhaps the wealthy and powerful in Sweden have to face justice from time to time. They should move here. They would be knighted!

It's crazy to think that this series could have continued along the same vein anyway,. The basic morality of all three books is flawed, do you honestly think that no one is going to question Salander's immense wealth at some point, Blomkvist is not going to be the only crusading journalist in this fiction. Their casual attitude towards the ordinary laws of Sweden could not continue, so technically book 4 should be about their own investigation and trial for perverting the course of justice, on many occasions. The three books were brilliant, but you can only suspend reality for so long.

the point made in Larsson's novels is that morallity can often be wrongly interpreted by the law of a land. The injustice faced by Lisbeth are clear proof of this; in many places Blomkvist and Salander have interpreted the law according to their own view of justice. In the climaz of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, Lisbeth spares her half-brother's life but ensures that he is punished for the murders he committed.

I agree with you! I became hooked to the series too and I really, really wished Larsson had lived to write the fourth one. It is a tragedy that he died so young.

I am a huge fan of the Millennium Trilogy and I have enjoyed the movies too. Lisbeth Salander is an intriguing character. I hope the 4th book is completed.

I have read The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo 3 times, The Girl who played With Fire twice and can hardly wait for The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet Nest to come out in paper back. It is a shame Larsson's life was cut short, we have lost an amazing author.

was stieg's heart attack ,proven with no fowl play?,just playing Columbo. but are the facts there.judging by his credentials.

Someone may have fiddled with the elevator up to his workplace so he had to take the stairs. Whoever sabotaged the elevator could understand, or hoped Stieg would suffer a heart attack when he was forced to go up the stairs. It is far-fetched but many want a conspiracy, so here you have one. The person who did this must have read Stiegs medical records and thougt this is the perfect plan. Not even Agatha Christie could have sniffed such evil.

I loved the Trilogy and was sad to know that Steig is no longer with us.
I am wondering, if I enjoyed the Millenium Trilogy, do any of the readers have other suggestions on what to pick up?
- Kristin, 22 July 2011
Have you read any of Lee Child's "Jack Reacher Series". 15 so far.
Not exactly the same but very addictive.

what i find interesting is that in countries like the uk they cannot bring themselves to call a book "men who hate women" whereas in a country like italy - renowned for its sexist attitude to women they are quite comfortable to call the first book by its first title.
