Review: Millennium trilogy

While I can admit to a certain oversensitivity to flaws in translation"

First of all, these 2 books are absolutely gripping thrillers. My only gripe is why oh why can't the publisher get some Tom, Dick or Harry who actually speaks English properly and can read carefully to give the books the once over prior to publication?

While I can admit to a certain oversensitivity to flaws in translation (I proof texts written by non-native speakers of English), I'm sure a thousand euros would put these mistakes right.

Swedish speakers out there: Did Mr Larsson write in sometimes slightly awkward hesitant Swedish? Hmm - thought not. And by the way, I'm sure he knew that St. Albans is not a suburb of London.

yes i agree, english alittle poor in places, but did any one notice also how many refernces are made to" drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes"!As an ex smoker of 6 months......all i' ve wanted to do through out these books is have a cig and a cup of coffee !!!!!

- Dee. Eire, 13 May 2010

Alas for dear Eva, and Stiegs many new fans, perhaps even Sweden itself, it would havebeen better if Stieg had a few less smokes in his real life too.

Here Here! I am still enjoying the 3rd novel --- ut agree that some of th eclu,py sentences should have been revised + there are also occasional missed negatives ......and perhaps some of the text that says along the lines of:

' then he/she gets up, goes to the bathroom, brushes teeth, makes coffee ' etc coul de neatened - not essential for the plot. ad seemed naive compared with the detial of the layers of intrigue being un picked.

like others, I woul dlike some other author to have a go at writing up the remaining books......

totallt disagree with this. the descriptions are part of his style and should not be tampered with!!

- Jackie, Glasgow, 18 July 2010

Its a great series, so what if the text is slightly incorrect and so what if it gets a little lengthy in description for some peoples taste...relax you people and just enjoy the whole.

Frankly I think the picky people must have a hang ups in life..

Picky is as picky does. I LOVED these books and couldn't put them down! Lisbeth Salandar, though she could care less about it, is my new hero!

I do have a question though that I hope someone can answer: what is an A4 binder/folder/document? The term 'A4' appears many times in the material, and I have no clue what that is. Thanks!

Like the US has Letter and Legal paper sizes in Europe they have A3, A4 and A5. (Look in Word under page layout:size)

Millennium trilogy
